ONSLAUGHT Frontman Interviewed By KASC THE BLAZE (Audio)
February 24, 2011This past weekend the metal staff at KASC The Blaze 1330 AM Arizona State University radio station (web site) conducted an interview with vocalist Sy Keeler of British thrashers ONSLAUGHT. You can now listen to the chat in several parts below.
How does it feel to be back together?
What brought you guys back together?
You guys worked with Phil Campbell (MOTÖRHEAD) and Tom Angelripper (SODOM),both from very acclaimed metal bands of their own on a song that MOTÖRHEAD did. How was that experience?
Give our listeners an insight into the new album, if they don't own it already.
Any new bands you'd like to recommend?
Since you guys have been around for a while, what's your opinion on the current metal scene?
Do you guys feel any pressure to out-do your previous albums, given how well "Power From Hell" and "The Force" were received?
What festivals, if any, do you guys have lined up to play this coming summer?
Thoughts on security in other countries.
Behind-the-scenes footage from the making of "The Sound Of Violence", the new video ONSLAUGHT, can be viewed below. The song comes off the band's fifth album, "Sounds Of Violence", which was released last month via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2007's "Killing Peace" was recorded and mixed at Hansen Studio in Ribe, Denmark with acclaimed Danish producer Jacob Hansen (RAUNCHY, MERCENARY, VOLBEAT, HEAVEN SHALL BURN).
Regarding the direction of ONSLAUGHT's new material, guitarist Nige Rockett previously said, "Musically and lyrically, this is definitely the most brutal and intense ONSLAUGHT album to date. It's full of machine-gun riffs, ferocious drum patterns and some pretty fucked up lyrical content.
"This album was never meant to be pretty. It's not a concept album by any measure but there's a definite theme to the whole package, right through from the sleeve design to the music and onto the words; it's violence all the way.
"There's a lot of hate in 'Sounds Of Violence' and a whole lot of reality in there, too, much of it straight from the heart."
ONSLAUGHT recently signed a deal with Enorm Music, the publishing arm of ICS, which organizes the Wacken Open Air festival.
